Curriculum Development and Leadership

I have extensive experience in educational design, course development and program development, both as a faculty member and as a consultant to other institutions. I am passionate about the development of efficient education programs and courses that empower students and are agile in their adoption of new technologies. I am an expert in the proper development of fully mapped course and program outcomes, and experienced in managing accreditation processes.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2018 – Senior Fellow, Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) (Fellowship No: PR141532). Awarded in recognition of education and curriculum leadership contributions.
  • 2007 – Certificate IV Training and Assessment (competency-based education)
SUMMARY OF CONTRIBUTIONS:
  • Purdue University – led a full program review and plan of study revision for the Animation program in the Dept of Computer Graphics Technology, integrating the new plan with sister programs (Game Design)
  • Zayed University – program leader for the BA Animation and the MSc Multimedia programs, managing new course development and delivery across multiple campuses and coordinating faculty delivering courses.
  • Managed The Animation and Multimedia programs through a major accreditation review.
  • Coordinated the BSc Multimedia Design program review task force, re-writing of plan of study.
  • Proposed major reviews to the ZU Animation program plan of study (2017), rewriting and mapping all learning outcomes across the program.
  • Worked with external consultants to co-write the BA in Applied Media (Animation) for the Higher Colleges of Technology College system in the UAE (2009), including developing the plan of study, all course descriptions, learning outcomes and mapping to accreditation and system requirements. The first Bachelor’s degree in animation in the UAE.
  • As consultant, developed a BFA program in Motion Graphics for the Dar Al Hekma School in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (2012).
  • As consultant to the Australian Government Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), developed an award-winning series of Cyber-Safety multimedia learning materials (see CV).
  • Developed many new individual courses, deploying researched best practice in outcomes-based education and assessment over 15 years of teaching and supervising across programs in the creative arts sector.
